2009 Season Approaches!

Focus Volleyball Club Annual General Meeting

The 2008 Annual General Meeting will be held on September 22, 2008 at the Harry Jerome Sports Centre.  Any player, parent, coach or manager is welcome to attend - in fact we would appreciate your ideas and support a this meeting.

The AGM notice and the minutes from last year's AGM Minutes are attached for your information.  Don't hesitate to contact any of the current Directors if you have any questions.

Coaches

The club is built around coaching.  With 15 teams last year and increasing demand this year there is always a need for additional coaches or assistant coaches.  In particular, we are looking for coaches for U14 and U18 girls teams.  If you are interested in coaching in any capacity we would be very interested in hearing from you.  Please contact Greg Russell at Greg_Russell@telus.net.

Reimbursement of Expenses for Focus Teams

Anybody wanting reimbursement of eligible expenses from the club can download and complete a requisition form Cheque Requisition and fax it to the club treasurer, Greg Shannon at 604-519-0442.  Please consult with your team manager before submitting a requisition.

Children's Fitness Tax Credit

The Government of Canada offers a non-refundable tax credit on eligible amounts of up to $500 paid by parents to register a child in an eligible program of physical activity.  Details can be found at Tax Credit.

Volleyball BC

Volleyball BC has a good web site and is a great resource for all aspects of volleyball in British Columbia.  For any questions or information that you can't find on our site check with Volleyball BC.  In particular, they publish a useful handbook.  Click to download - 2008 Youth Handbook.

Other Volleyball Opportunities

Beyond the indoor club season there are numerous opportunities to learn and enjoy volleyball.

Volleyball BC offers many opportunities for youth to improve on and develop their skills.  In addition to Volleyball BC, there are numerous other camps run by others (particularly during the summer months) as well as drop in Volleyball times at Harry Jerome.

For the more competitive youth, Baden Cup and BC Summer Games offer opportunities to learn and play at an advanced level.
